Are you ready to take Bring Chicago Home over the finish line?

As a housing justice advocate, you know how long we've been fighting for Bring Chicago Home, and how much good this campaign can do in the lives of our unhoused neighbors.

We need your help now to convince voters in Chicago to vote YES for Bring Chicago Home on March 19th.

Here's where we need you:

a zoom call

Phone-Banking - reaches lots of voters

Phone-Banking is a great way to reach a lot of people in a short amount of time, from the comfort of your home or from our office. On Wednesdays from 5:30pm-8pm, you can join us online or at ONE Northside (4648 N Racine) for phone-banking. If you are coming in person, bring your own phone and laptop if you can. We will be calling people in our own ONE Northside contact list to talk to them about why Bring Chicago Home is important and to remind them to vote.

If you are new to phone-banking, don’t worry, we can train you!

Canvassing – a proven way to win

Having a conversation face-to-face is the most effective way to influence a person’s views. Join us Saturdays from 10am-1pm. We often start at our office at 4648 N Racine for canvassing, but be sure to RSVP in case the location changes! We’ll be going door-to-door, asking our neighbors to VOTE YES, and explaining how their vote on the March ballot can make a huge difference for housing justice. Just as phone-banking can reach a large number of people, door-to-door canvassing is a critical way to make a deep impact.

Join our Partner Organizations - many scheduling options

We get it, scheduling can be complicated. Maybe you don't have availability on Wednesday evenings or Saturday middays to join ONE Northside events, but you still want to help. Sign up to join ONE Northside’s partner organizations across the north side that are also holding similar events.

Submit a Video About Why Bring Chicago Home Matters to You

We are holding a video contest to spread the word about Bring Chicago Home on social media. If you submit a video, you will be entered into a drawing for ONE Northside t-shirts, and a chance to be featured in our blog. The rules are simple:

  • Submit a short video (1 minute max) answering the question “Why do I support Bring Chicago Home?”
  • We especially want personal testimonies, mentioning if you or someone you know has experienced homelessness
  • This video could be shot on any video camera, could be a phone, computer, or fancy video camera
  • Good light, so we can see your face. Good sound, so we can hear your voice
  • If you need help creating this video, let us know! Help is available.
  • Horizontal/Landscape view only (this is so we can edit it together with other videos

Send video submissions to Communications Manager Marie Rowley at mrowley@onenorthside.org, subject line: BCH Video

We will be sharing these videos on social media to help convince people to vote YES for Bring Chicago Home.

Update: Community Meeting in Support of Cornerstone

On January 8th, ONE Northside leaders attended a community meeting in support of the proposal to create a men's shelter at 1140 W Wilson. Cornerstone, one of our member organizations, currently operates a men's shelter in an Edgewater church that is closing. This new space on Wilson would accommodate more men and would be a non-congregate shelter, where residents have their own rooms instead of sharing one large room. This allows the residents to live with dignity, safety and privacy. All residents receive individualized case management, on-site medical and behavioral health care, access and referrals to services from other partnering organizations, all their meals and basic needs, and other wrap-around services.

Many members of the community spoke passionately about their support for the proposal, and our leaders were so excited to see so much community support for this proposal that could make a difference for so many people!

Sweet, Sweet Momentum

From Bring Chicago Home presentations, phone-banking, canvassing or social media videos - we are doing this! It's exciting to be a part of this momentum for Bring Chicago Home, an idea created in 2018 that we know the general public broadly supports.

Even as victory is almost within reach, let's not take it for granted. Greedy corporations and the real estate lobby are working hard to defeat Bring Chicago Home, so we have to keep working hard too. We have to keep making phone calls, pounding pavement, calling our friends and family, and making sure everyone is voting YES on March 19th.
